Squirrels at Play

I watched the squirrels at play today,
tails swishing to and fro.
They play their games like "hide and seek",
not sure which way to go.
I wish I had their energy,
and they never seem to worry,
But when they see me coming close
up the tree they scurry.
I like to feed the little squirrels
sometimes they sniff and run,
But when I throw their favorite food
I can watch them having fun.
They like to hide their food away,
most anywhere will do.
Sometimes I know just where to look,
they often leave a clue.
I watched the squirrels at play today
How happy they must be.
Sometimes I'd like to be so small
and play there in the tree.
